February 6th was National Chopstick Day. The students were issued chopsticks at lunch to try to eat their Orange Chicken over Rice with. We hope the students enjoyed this opportunity!

RCHS Interact Club is once again hosting a murder mystery event! The Murder At The 1980s Prom event will take place Saturday, February 24, with doors opening at 5pm. The cost is $40/person or $300/table of 8. 1980s attire is welcomed but not required. Proceeds from the event will go to RCHS Interact Club and Richland County Hope. Tickets may be purchased in the RCHS Office, or by contacting Chelsea Kermicle or John McLaughlin.

Mr. Music's Intro to Health Occupations Class visited Carle RMH. Students were able to tour the radiology and lab departments. Thank you Carle RMH for allowing our students a peek into the operations of those departments!
GRIT Award winners for 1/29-2/4 are: Wrestling - Brandon Wenger, Boys Basketball - Ally Lynch, Girls Basketball - Piper Knox, and Cheerleading - Alexis Steele. The GRIT Award is awarded to an athlete that demonstrates hustle, teamwork, and dedication. This award isn't necessarily always the highest scorer or top performer, but one that shows drive and passion to make the team better!

Olney Central College is offering RCHS seniors the chance to win a 3 credit hour tuition waiver! At the Lady Tiger Basketball Senior Night on February 5th, OCC will have a drawing for the tuition waiver during halftime. Be sure to come out for a chance to win that waiver, Class of 2024. What a great senior celebration for our RCHS students!
Winter sports are winding down but our student athletes still have plenty of events for fans of OTN to catch! Monday, February 5 will be Senior Night for our Lady Tiger Basketball girls. JV tipoff is at 6:15pm and fans are encouraged to wear orange. Tiger F/S Basketball will be in Lawrenceville with game time at 6pm. Tuesday, Lady Tiger F/S Basketball is on the road to Robinson with a 6pm tipoff. Tiger F/S Basketball will faceoff against Mt. Vernon in RHG at 6:15pm on Wednesday evening while Lady Tiger Basketball faces Effingham at 6pm. On Friday, Tiger Basketball has a replay of the LIC Championship when they face the Eagles at Newton, tipoff at 6pm. Tiger Wrestling has Sectionals in Vandalia on Friday and Saturday with times to be announced. Find time to come on out and cheer on these OTN athletes!
Lady Tiger Basketball Senior Night will be held on Monday, February 5. JV tipoff will be at 6:15pm with varsity beginning immediately afterwards. The theme for the evening is Orange Out! Be sure to come out to give our senior girls a great sendoff for representing OTN so well over their time at RCHS!

Tonight was Military Appreciation Night at the Tiger Basketball game against the Lawrenceville Indians. Members of the military, veterans, and Richland County Homefront were in attendance to support the Tigers, along with all OTN fans. Fans were encouraged to dress in red, white, and blue in support. The two best dressed students were chosen and given a Ginger Ale’s gift card. Additionally, FCS teacher Mrs. West was recognized for being chosen as a top educator in Illinois through the VFW. Richland County Homefront also presented Court Commander awards to the two top players for each team: Olney - Ian Winkler and Lawrenceville - Bryant Jenkins. RCHS would like to thank everyone that came out in support of our military and Tigers!
Senior Ian Winkler garnered his 1,000th career point as an Olney Tiger this evening against the Lawrenceville Indians. He is now the 20th Tiger all-time to achieve this accomplishment. Congratulations Ian on a phenomenal career!
