This is due to a lack of locker availability. Senior students who are not issued a locker or do not wish to have a locker will need to make necessary arrangements according to their respective schedules. We expect our students to leave their belongings (backpacks, coats, etc.) in their lockers and/or their vehicles during the school day. We do not want students carrying backpacks or anything of the like to class due to safety concerns unless noted in their 504 plan respectively. Entering and Leaving the High School - This must take place at the main entrance (exit 1). Students must sign out and sign in when they enter or when they exit through the school day (after 8:00 AM and before 3:00 PM). OTA Update: OTA (One Tiger Academy) is a 30 minute class period that takes place after 1st block. The primary purpose of the class is to meet the academic needs of each student. Students will not be issued school credit for the class but will receive a P(Pass) or a F(Fail). Please note that this mark of a P or an F will be present on the student’s transcripts. Students will have the same teacher during the entire school year. During this period, students will have daily scheduled tasks each week that include: Grade / credit checks Skill building / enrichment activities PSAT / SAT test preparation Guided Study Relationship building / Parent-Guardian communication OTE Update: OTE (One Tiger Extension) is a 30 minute class period that takes place during the last period of the day. The primary purpose is to offer student engagement activities and support that students may need. Like OTA, students will not be issued school credit but will receive a P or an F on their transcript. During this period, students will have the opportunity to: Attend a club offering/co-curricular option of their choice Partake in tutoring opportunities/credit recovery Undergo athletic training sessions Participate in academic ‘catch up’ sessions Attendance and participation in OTA and OTE classes is mandatory for students to receive a P(Pass) on their transcript. Students will be counted as absent if they miss either session. Students will have to qualify academically to attend certain OTE offerings.
August 8, 2022 Dear RCCU1 Families: The new school year begins with a Teacher Institute on August 15th and 16th and the first day of student attendance on August 17th. A “Back to School Night” will be held at each school on August 15th and I invite you to make plans to attend. A schedule for the event is below. RCES PreK, Kindergarten, Grade 2 & 4 5:00 - 6:30 pm RCES Grade 1, 3 & 5 6:00 - 7:30 pm RCMS Grade 6, 7 & 8 6:00 - 7:30 pm RCHS Grade 9, 10, 11 & 12 6:30 - 8:00 pm As we begin the 2022 - 2023 school year, each school district is required to have a Safe Return to Learning Plan. This plan may be found on the school district website at https://www.rccu1.net/ and is open for public comment until midnight on August 16th. Please take a little time to review this plan and familiarize yourself with its content. Many of the restrictions that have been in place for the past couple of years have been lifted. However, COVID-19 is still present in the community, so this plan addresses how the district will continue to focus on student and staff health and safety. Over the past couple of weeks I have spoken to many of the teachers and support staff throughout the school district. I can tell you that there is a very real sense of excitement about the start of the new school year. Speaking for everyone that makes up RCCU1, we are really looking forward to welcoming back our students on August 17th! Best Regards, Chris A. Simpson, Superintendent of Schools
